In calling Muslims to perform the hajj, the Holy Quran says,
“In it (The first House of worship) there are clear signs and the station of Abraham; whoever enters it becomes secure. Pilgrimage to the House is a duty owed to Allah by all who can make their way to it. As for those who refuse to follow His command, surely Allah does not stand in need of anything.” [3:97]
“And remember when We assigned to Abraham the site of the House, saying, “Do not associate anything with Me in worship and purify My House for those who circle the Ka’bah, stand in prayer, and bow and prostrate themselves. Call all people to the pilgrimage. They will come to you on foot and on every lean camel from every distant path.” [22:26-27]
